Your Tour Guide Extraordinaire!
Meet Ben Mastracco, Owner & Founder of Encinitas Food Tour

As a lifelong foodie, I was gifted a food tour as a birthday present, and my life has never been the same.
After spending 6+ years working as a food scientist, I became exhausted and uninspired working with processed junk food. I quit my corporate job in 2018 and started working as a private chef and running food tours on the side in multiple neighborhoods in San Francisco.
Since then I’ve led food tours in 3 major cities, been featured on local TV programs, cooked for big groups and small groups, led countless virtual and in-person cooking classes, and basically dedicated every moment of my life to food.
Simply put, I know good food!
After relocating to San Diego in 2020, I fell in love with Encinitas. It’s fun, hip, quirky, and loaded with good food. Shortly after, I decided to take all of my food tour experience and create my own tour, putting together a route of some of my favorite local restaurants, with dishes that I felt were really worth showcasing.
It’s my absolute pleasure to lead my guests around the sunny coastal neighborhood of Encinitas, and show them my favorite places to eat and drink. Come get in on the fun!
Additionally, I offer private chef services to locals and travelers, in the form of
- Private Catering Events
- Dinner Parties
- Public and Private Cooking Classes
- Private Tours of Encinitas

We had a great time with Ben on the Encinitas tour! Tacos, beer, sandwich, fruit tart, vegan brisket fries, donuts. Wow! Throw in a little history and a great walk. What a day!

My husband and I enjoyed the Encinitas Food Tour so much yesterday! Ben was a fantastic host, so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. All the stops were an excellent choice. We loved the little stories Ben told along the way. I think I may dream about those fresh warm donuts! Thanks for a fantastic day, Ben! We HIGHLY recommend this tour. There are so many restaurants in Encinitas, it’s crazy how many options you have. We’re already planning to hit up the bread place for another one of those sandwiches tomorrow. Holy cow, it was good!
